Statement on Corporate Responsibility

As a leader in our industry, GC Services believes in the moral, ethical and fiduciary responsibility to invest in the overall well-being of our employees and the environments in which they work and live. By upholding this responsibility through the use of green initiatives, strategic site placement, subcontractor selection criteria, and socially proactive campaigns, at the corporate level, we have successfully lessened our global footprint while promoting a positive and sustainable future.

Green Initiatives

GC Services is committed to providing our services and conducting our business in a manner that minimizes our environmental impact. We recognize that being an environmentally responsible company is an on-going and evolving obligation, one that requires us to continually understand, assess, and improve our environmental impact. We promote positive stewardship of the environment and its resources through initiatives implemented both at the local level and companywide. Efforts are far-reaching and include:

  • Paper conservation: Wherever possible, we promote a paperless environment by giving access to the printers to only management personnel. This reduces both paper consumption and the waste generated. We also promote electronic reports to and from our clients, again reducing the need for paper. We have paper waste shredded on site by a vendor who then recycles the shreds. Wherever possible, we print deliverables on recycled paper.
  • Recycling efforts: As a non-industrial company, GC Services diligently promotes corporate responsibility through eco-friendly recycling programs. Beyond the paper shredding mentioned above, we also recycle electronics, computer components, and printer cartridges wherever possible. When carpet replacement is needed, we recycle old carpet instead of dumping it in the city’s landfill where it takes up valuable space.
  • Power preservation: At the site level, we use clean natural gas for generator back-up, when possible, building management systems to control HVAC systems and reduce energy costs, occupancy sensors to control lighting when a space is not occupied, and LED monitors instead of CRT monitors for lower energy use and less heat output.
